    What Are the Features of the Panasonic Meat Grinder?

    The primary feature we really love about this kitchen appliance is that it contains a sausage attachment that really works well with traditional intestinal tubing. You can always pick up a cheap grinder that has an attachment that works with those collagen casings, but this Panasonic grinder does a good job with the natural ones. That way you get a good cooking experience with the end product that seals in the juiciness of the meat without the need to peel the casing off.

    There are also these additional features to consider with this meat grinder:

    • it works with any standard 120v home outlet to provide 180 watts of grinding power;

    It’s the carbon steel parts that are going to throw a lot of people for a loop with this kitchen appliance. These items require hand cleaning and can’t be put into a dishwasher because they’ll rust if you do. You will also need to regularly maintain these parts with a food grade mineral oil to prevent rusting from occurring in-between uses.

    Are There Advantages To This Meat Grinder?

    Outside of the cost and the sturdiness of the machine, the advantage you’ll get here is if you have small batches of meat to grind in your home kitchen for a specific recipe. You’ll get about 20 pounds of use from the machine at a time before you need to really stop, clean it, and let it rest. Will it process an entire animal? No. Will it grind up a better cut of meat from your grocery store that is cheaper than a pound of fatty ground beef? Yes.

    If there was one thing to change in the design of this meat grinder, it would be the output of the motor that it has. A 180 watt motor is good for soft tissue grinds of small proportions, but that’s about it. Calling this a “heavy duty” meat grinder doesn’t seem quite accurate because of the power of the motor, but it does work well enough for small cuts of good quality animal protein.

    If you don’t do a lot of grinding and just want something that you can use to make your own sausages or ground meat dishes occasionally, then you could save quite a bit of money by opting for this machine. It won’t produce lots of ground meat hour after hour, but it can produce the perfect grind for your Shepherd’s Pie that everyone wants to eat tonight.
